Sifu Stanley Wayne Cox
Sifu Stanley Wayne Cox has an
impressive martial arts resume. He started his
training in Shaolin Kung Fu at the age of 14
under the instruction of Sifu David Reames. He
earned his black sash ranking in Shaolin at the
age of 18. At the age of 21, Stanley began
training in Shinobi Ninjitsu while stationed in
Okinawa. He continued his training back in the
States with Shihan Brit Ricketts, eventually
earning his masters ranking in that art.
Sifu Stanley's military
service includes 6 years in the navy, first in
the Explosive Ordinance Detail and later as a navy seal. Sifu Stanley Cox also participated in
several special ops assignments which remain
classified.
Sifu Stanley may be
familiar to many of you by his tournament
experience. Known in tournament circles as "The Possum", Sifu Stanley's trademark
move was playing injured to draw his opponent in
for an attack, a technique he picked up in the
service.
Since 1988, Sifu Stanley has trained in Jeet Kune Do through seminars and private sessions with some of the top JKD instructors in the United States.
In 2007, Stanley starred in the major motion picture Enter the Possum, written and directed by Arthur LaSalle (If This Be the Enemy). Loosely based upon Stanley's life, the movie was runner-up in the 2008 Livertas Film festival in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
