Stanley Wayne Cox and the Bluegrass Razzmatazz

An accomplished banjo and fiddle player, Stanley Wayne Cox has been a pickin' and a grinnin' for over 30 years. Stanley's first band was the Jedd Clampetts, which he formed with his best friend Adam Hazell in 1972. The band was a folk rock/bluegrass fusion. The Jedd Clampetts disbanded in 1974 when Stanley entered the navy.

Stanley continued to play with himself until 1991, when he joined the group The Traveling Pamphleteers, a bluegrass Journey tribute band. After growing tired of playing Journey songs, and feeling artistically constrained, the group rebranded itself as the Bluegrass Razzmatazz and began performing a broader selection of material, including their own songs. In 1998, Stanley Wayne Cox and the Bluegrass Razzmatazz released their first album, Here, Here, and Over There, on Epsilon Records. The group is currently working on their follow up album, tentatively titled, Way Over Yonder. Two songs have already been recorded, including Eye of the Possum and Traveling Back From There.

Stanley Wayne Cox and his band The Bluegrass Razzmatazz are also available for weddings and dances. Contact Stanley for further details.

Lyrics

Eye of the Possum
by Stanley Wayne Cox

Blood and sweat
A warrior forged within the fire
Fighting on
No time for being tired
He'll make his way
To the top of the pagoda
The Possum comes
The Jeet Kune Do version of Yoda

The eye of the Possum
A hillbilly man of might
He'll play dead
But he's really poised to strike
And when you need
A dude to save the day
It's the eye of the Possum
That will always look your way

Ol' Bruce Lee
He died upon a pillow
In Stanley's dreams
Bruce said it's time to be a hero
Old dead Bruce taught ol’ Stan
All he wanted him to know
And when he woke
Stan had mastered Jeet Kune Do

The eye of the Possum
A hillbilly man of might
He'll play dead
But he's really poised to strike
And when you need
A dude to save the day
It's the eye of the Possum
That will always look your way

Yes, it's the
Eye of the Possum
A hillbilly man of might
He'll play dead
But he's really poised to strike
And when you need
A dude to save the day
It's the eye of the Possum
That will always look your way
