Fifteenth Annual Ozarks Jeet Kune Do Conference a Rousing Success!

The fifteenth annual Ozarks Jeet Kune Do Conference, Picnic, and Jamboree was held this past July 13th on Sifu Cox's 20-acre spread off of Interstate 30. There were over 70 people in attendance, a record to date.

Jeet Kune Do practitioners from all over the world gathered to learn from Senior Sifu Stanley Wayne Cox. He covered the Toopach, the Sliding Step Kick, and the Electric Backfist.

After the morning training session, the attendees gathered with their families and other invited guests for the JKD picnic. Barbecue was served with potato salad and okra. A delicious banana pudding rounded out the meal.

After the picnic, Grand Sifu Rusty Stevens held a question-and-answer session where he told some amazing stories about his time during the early development of Jeet Kune Do. It was a treat having Grand Sifu Stevens at our event and we know his presence was appreciated by all in attendance.

After the Q&A, and as the day wore into evening, the Gurdon Martial Arts Academy Brigade lit the ceremonial bonfire. After the sun set, Grand Sifu Stevens introduced Senior Sifu Cox and his band, the Bluegrass Razzmatazz. They performed a 16-song set, including everyone's favorite, Eye of the Possum, which closed out the evening.

On behalf of the Gurdon Martial Arts Academy, thank you to everyone who attended our event and made it a success. We hope to see you again next year!
